Sir Arthur Bliss & François Glorieux
Deeply impressed by Sir Arthur Bliss' pianoconcerto, François Glorieux performed the Belgian première of this work, first in Ghent (1953) and later on in Antwerp with the Spanish conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
Glorieux also played Sir Arthur's pianosonata at the Ostend International Music Festival and the "Elegy" at the Wigmore Hall in London in the presence of the composer who invited François at his home.
For his brilliant interpretations of the "Master of the Queen's Music", Glorieux obtained the "Harriet Cohen International Music Award" (London, 1967)for contemporary music performance.
